INFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
And now, without further ado, S.A.V.A. Press is proud to present: Zach McAllister!
S.A.V.A. Press: “Author bios, by their very nature, are meant to be short and sweet. Is there anything outside of your author bio that you’d like your readers to know about you, or that you think your readers might find interesting and/or surprising about you? If not, feel free to use this space to speak directly to your readers about anything related to your published work…”
Zach: “I’m not as serious as my writing suggests. I like the ideas of the internal conflict and finding one’s own solution to conquer whatever conflict. Self-saving, self-damning, one’s whole universe lies within, as it were. Comedy, dark humor, and sarcasm I find is where some of the best humor lies.”
S.A.V.A. Press: “Here at S.A.V.A. Press, we feel that all writers can contribute something to the conversation about the art of writing. Can you share your thoughts on what, in your opinion, are the elements of great writing?”
Zach: “Setting the scene, as it were. Painting out the picture of something with just words is a very great element. Creating a story that any reader can relate to, and creating a character that makes the reader feel connected through whatever plights they may have.”
S.A.V.A. Press: “Writing is an art, and all artists derive inspiration from their mentors and idols along the way. Can you elaborate on the people who’ve inspired and influenced you, and helped mold your writing thus far? And please don’t feel as if your answer has to be limited to writers. Inspiration can come from all kinds of sources…”
Zach: “It’s really hard to nail it down to even just a few people. In everything I have ever taken on, I have found mentors and those that needed mentoring in all walks of life. I think most of my inspirations come from a collective of so many people. Also, from a lot of situations I have been through and involved in.”
S.A.V.A. Press: “Please share your thoughts, both positive and/or negative, on the literary landscape of today…”
Zach: “I have just recently begun to pay attention to the literary scene. What I have noticed is a lot of independent authors and self-publishers out there working independently and with others to spread creativity.”
S.A.V.A. Press: “If you could suggest one fiction book that everyone should read, what would it be, and why?”
Zach: “I would have to say, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. Great philosophy dressed as comedy.”

Zachory “Mick” McAllister is a writer, electrical engineer, and U.S. Navy veteran, which means he knows his way around wires, waves, and the occasional existential crisis. Born in Reno, Nevada, he spent his formative years consuming DC Comics, Stephen King, and Orson Scott Card, unknowingly training for his future career in storytelling (and possibly surviving post-apocalyptic scenarios). After navigating the high seas with the Navy, Mick transitioned into electrical engineering—because what better way to balance the chaos of creative writing than with the soothing logic of circuits? Though writing was an on-again, off-again endeavor, it always lingered in the background like an overenthusiastic sidekick waiting for its big moment. His work has appeared at The Dope Fiend Daily and Subject And Verb Agreement Press literary e-zines.
